The Collaboration is Here

The collaboration of Target and Neiman Marcus is finally here. It’s available online (though most is sold out already on neiman marcus’ website but still available on target’s website) and in stores. As I am impatient, very impatient, I didn’t want to order online. I woke up and headed to my local target to try and get my hands on the few things I did want.

When I arrived there was signs taped to the front doors saying “Neiman Marcus line starts at blue sign” needless to say, I was worried. Luckily, and weirdly, nothing was sold out, it looked like no one had even touched anything yet (this was at 10am).

My goodies:

Tory Burch lunchbox: $19.99, Carolina Herrera set of 3 notepads and pencils: $19.99 and Marc Jacobs wool/cashmere scarf: $69.99

I will admit the lunchbox was a let down. It looks very, very, very cheap. Not even saying Tory Burch anywhere inside, not even on the tag. Just the white lunchbox-y plastic inside. But for $20 can’t complain too much. Plus I take my lunch to work everyday, so it is practical and my lunch will be stylish!

The notepads are pretty cool, the pages have gold painted sides, which means the pads do smell a bit like paint (and by a bit I mean, a very strong bit). Regardless, I’ll definitely be using them! I’m kind of a stationery freak who loves notebooks, notepads, pens and pencils.

The scarf was my must have. I’m so excited for it, It’ll be worked into one of my outfits this upcoming week! So excited!

Did you get your Target+Neiman Marcus goodies this morning?

Feeling a Bit Blue?

There’s blue everywhere!

It kind of makes you feel like there’s going to be an end to this ridiculously hot, dry summer as this shade of blue is a Fall/Autumn color.

I opened a magazine recently and I swear every page was all about the blue!  Kind of like a cobalt color is what should be in your shopping bag right now.  So, I figured I would dedicate a post to the color, just in case you felt a bit blue…

As always, click the photo to shop :)

Target + Neiman Marcus

As you probably have guessed, I love collaborations among designers and normal everyday companies. It’s a great way to get designer styles for a much more affordable price.

Which makes me pleased to announce Target’s newest collaboration. It will be with the one and only Neiman Marcus. Yes, I know that’s a department store, not a designer. Because it’s Neiman Marcus, it will feature 24 designers in the Limited Edition Holiday line. I’m curious to see how they will do this, if each designer gets one piece to design or they all work together. I don’t know for sure, they just announced today. But, I do know, after being happy with the Jason Wu collection I will be going after this for sure.

Want to know who the lucky 24 designers are? They’re not going to make you wait for that. They’ve given the list. Straight from the press release:

“The Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection includes an eclectic and diverse mix of more than 50 limited-edition gifting products. The collection ranges from $7.99 to $499.99, with most items less than $60. Designers who created pieces for the collection include:”

Alice + Olivia Jason Wu Proenza Schouler
Altuzarra Judith Leiber Rag & Bone
Band of Outsiders Lela Rose Robert Rodriguez
Brian Atwood Marchesa Rodarte
Carolina Herrera Marc Jacobs Skaist-Taylor
Derek Lam Oscar de la Renta Thom Browne
Diane von Furstenberg Philip Crangi Tory Burch
Eddie Borgo Prabal Gurung Tracy Reese

I’ve got to be honest, I’m a little worried about seeing some items be up to $499.99. While it does say “most” items are under $60, I just hope their “most” and my “most” are the same thing. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a collaboration in my opinion if a lot are around $500, but I’m still excited and we’ll just have to wait and see the goods!

An even greater update to this collaboration – it will be available through both Target and Neiman Marcus – in stores and online! That’s right! If we all crash the server on Target (like it’s happened the last two times – Jason Wu and Missoni collections) no worries, head over to Neiman Marcus’ website to try and get your hands on it there. And, if you’re lucky enough to have a Neiman Marcus around you, scour their racks for that piece you love.

With this collaboration, Target and Neiman Marcus will also be donating $1 Million to The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) as all designers are members of the CFDA and it’s the 50th celebration of the Council this year.

I hope you’re as excited for this as I am. Never have I wanted it to be the holiday season so bad as I do now. I just have to wait 5 months….

Make sure and set your alarms early for the morning of December 1st. These items will go fast.

A Tisket, A Tasket…

Have you seen these new shoes and handbags? They are made of straw and resemble basket-weaving.  I like the look and the idea; however, actual use of one.. I’m a bit iffy on.

Maybe one of you, my fellow readers, can answer the question that I have about them: how do they handle rain or water?

I don’t think they would hold up well to it, but, they are Spring/Summer items so maybe it can just be for sunny day use.

Anyway, one of the new Spring.Summer trends are basket-weaved straw handbags and shoes. I’m thinking this trend would look most amazing with flowy skirts and dresses, or other feminine/bohemian pieces. Definitely something to try with neutral colors and lace, ruffles, or florals.

What do you think of this trend? Have you found a pair of basket-weaved heels or a handbag you love? If not check out these possibilities:

Henri Bendel – The Blair Straw Bag – $298
This bag is so adorable, it seems like it’d be a perfect size if you’re just running some quick errands or going to lunch. The yellow trim really makes it, in my opinion. I’m ready for Summer when I look at this!

Charlotte Olympia – Rapunzel Wedge Pump – $1495
These caught my eye in a magazine. They just look so amazing. They have that traditional straw look but with a twist because of the black detailing in the wedge and bows on top. If I had an extra $1500 lying around these would be on my feet.

The Versatile Shirtdress

They’re versatile, they’re comfortable; they’re the shirtdress. Dress them up or wear them as is – they are a dress that looks both casual and dressy at the same time. It’s Spring which means it’s time to show off those legs and these are great ways to welcome the new fashions.

Here’s some lovely examples of shirtdresses you can get your hands on!

Joie – ‘Bishop’ Chambray Shirtdress – $218

I love brands Joie and Soft Joie. I was introduced to the brand in Saks Fifth Avenue in Las Vegas and ever since buying the Soft Joie top, I’ve been in love. Knowing how comfortable the top I have is, I can only imagine how soft and comfortable this shirtdress could be. Plus, a big plus, it’s chambray which is also very in right now. Perfect combination, right?

Polyvore: Spring is Coming!

Do You Wedge?

Every year, around this time, we get bombarded by wedges. Yes, we know – Spring is coming! Bust out the wedges and sandals. But here’s my question: how many people actually do the wedge thing?

I see them at New York Fashion Week, and in print ads but how many people do I see actually rocking the wedge? Very few. I’m 5’2″, so I do understand the need for some height on my shoes, and when boot season ends my choices narrow; however, I still prefer my heels over a wedge in the Spring and Summer.

I have found some cute ones to share though. So if you like to wear them, or just like to look at them, like me, enjoy!
