Skater Skirts are EVERYWHERE!

Everywhere I go, online or in-store, I see skater skirts. To be honest: I love it, too! They’re so cute and simple yet fabulous. They’re extremely flattering and can easily be dressed up or down. Pair them with a button down blouse for work or throw on a sweatshirt for the weekend. Heels, booties, or flats, they will work with everything.

Here’s a short collection that I’ve found that are to die for:

Lust Item: Chloe’s Marcie Small Calfskin Satchel

I saw this last time I was in Nordstrom and have been in love with it since. Every time I see it I just want to put it on a credit card and have it in my possession! It’s so gorgeous, all leather, and a decent size. The dimensions are: 14″W x 10 1/2″H x 4 1/2″D. Big enough for everything you need plus a book/tablet!! I love this color too. It’s called Nut, kinda funny :) The downside… it’s $1795. Maybe I’ll start saving up for it… It seems like a classy bag that could last you for a long time.

Seeing Double: Longchamp and Nordstrom

I love coming across items that I do a double-take and wonder “haven’t I seen something like that before?!” The last time I did that was a pair of Alexander McQueen look-a-likes at Charlotte Russe.

I’ve found another look-a-like. This time it’s not as close as the McQueen-Russe connection, but it’s still pretty close! It’s a look-a-like of the infamous Longchamp Le Pliage tote made famous by its usefulness on a college campus. It’s lightweight and perfect for carrying a notebook, pens, and a book or two. Plus, it zips completely and because of its nylon exterior won’t be damaged by getting caught in the rain.

Anyway, compare the original Longchamp Le Pliage tote to the one I found in the sale section at Nordstrom…..

Longchamp – Le Pliage Large Shoulder Tote – $128

The Nordstrom option…

Nordstrom – Getaway Tote – $33.98

This one is almost the same exact dimensions, on sale for $33 (normally $58). The only real difference is this is canvas rather than nylon. Still if you want a cute similarity, for $100 less, head over to Nordstroms website and pick up one of these look-a-likes.

Jason Wu Is At It Again!

Jason Wu is keeping busy these days! First, he did his own thing, then joined forces with Target, then announced he’s going to join forces with Neiman Marcus and 23 other designers to put out another collection at Target this December. And now….. he’s teaming up with Nordstrom.

It has been announced today that he is doing a Contemporary line specifically for Nordstrom called Miss Wu.

The details:

– line will be launched for Spring 2013

– it will consist of 40 pieces

– will be in 49 Nordstrom stores and online

– each item will be priced between $195 and $795

– inspiration stems from Jane Birkin and Marianne Faithfull with a 1960s vibe

– bows, a-line skirts, florals, and mini-skirts will be in abundance throughout the collection

While we have months to wait for this to hit shelves, it’s something to look forward to!

Missoni + Havaianas: Perfect Summer Match

As I was browsing through my recent Nordstrom catalog, I came across a very lovely pair of flip-flops that caught my eye. It’s a pair of Havaianas flip-flops designed by Missoni. Amazing, right?

Now I don’t wear flip-flops very often, or at all, not unless I’m going to a pool, but these are seriously a nice addition to a summer wardrobe. My go-to flip flops are Havaianas as I have very narrow feet and they’re the only ones I’ve found that are actually made for slim feet. The straps fit snug and you don’t feel like you’re going to slide out of them (especially with wet feet).

These come in a bit pricier than typical flip-flops as they are Missoni by Havaianas at $70 a pair, but when these two brands join forces it could be well worth the price. Typical Havaianas are around $30 so the Missoni prints do add a portion to the total cost.

What do you think?  Will you be purchasing these for your summer outings?

Those damn boots…

Here’s the background on this post… I have a lovely pair of camel colored riding boots that I love and bought last year for the winter season. I still love them. However, I bought them for $10 at Charlotte Russe. By now, it being about a year later… they have no traction left. At all. For $10 I’m not complaining, I’m just saying I’m in desperate need of a new pair of camel colored riding boots. So I’ve been looking, and looking, and looking some more. Mainly because I’m not ready to give up these that I have broken in and have outfits made for. But its that time, I’ve falling on flat surfaces and slid on anything resembling a smooth surface because of the traction-less soles.

Here are my contenders for replacements:

These are from Francesca’s website. They are $99 and pretty close to what I have now.  Genuine Leather too.
