The Versatile Shirtdress

They’re versatile, they’re comfortable; they’re the shirtdress. Dress them up or wear them as is – they are a dress that looks both casual and dressy at the same time. It’s Spring which means it’s time to show off those legs and these are great ways to welcome the new fashions.

Here’s some lovely examples of shirtdresses you can get your hands on!

Joie – ‘Bishop’ Chambray Shirtdress – $218

I love brands Joie and Soft Joie. I was introduced to the brand in Saks Fifth Avenue in Las Vegas and ever since buying the Soft Joie top, I’ve been in love. Knowing how comfortable the top I have is, I can only imagine how soft and comfortable this shirtdress could be. Plus, a big plus, it’s chambray which is also very in right now. Perfect combination, right?

Embrace the Lace: Tops

Tops. The simple part of an outfit that can simply make an outfit. With embellishments or patterns, stripes, cutouts, straps, or … yup, you guessed it, lace.

Honestly, while I love lace, I’m really not a fan of plain lace tops. Ones that have an under-layer I’m a fan of; just plain lace, not so much. I must’ve been traumatized as a child with itchy lace because I put lace on and I’m sure I’m going to bust out in a red rash the second it makes contact with my skin. Anyway, I’m gonna get over my fear this season and try some lace. Hopefully you’re not as odd as I am and have no problem with this trend.

Here are the tops that I found that will help you embrace the lace. I found a lot of affordable options for these, so hopefully you will find one you can add to your wardrobe!

Embrace the Lace: Dresses

Next up in the lace category are dresses. Like I mentioned in my previous post, Kate Middleton and her famously lace dresses contributed to the love of lace, especially in dresses. From her famous wedding dress to her black lace dresses, we’ve all watched her show just how classy lace can be. That’s the amazing thing about lace. You can make it really casual, like the shorts I showed you yesterday, or you can dress it up.

Half the dresses I found for today are just that – casual, and the other half dressy. Whatever occasion you can make lace work for you.

In no particular order are today’s lace dress finds and if you have any others that you’d like to share I’d love to add to this list!

That’s all the lace I have for you right now. Next is tops!

Embrace the Lace: Shorts

I kind of blame Kate Middleton for the lace craze.. she apparently loves lace. Google “Kate Middleton Lace” and you will see what I mean. She wears it out and about and then, her wedding dress blew it all away. Her gorgeous Alexander McQueen designed by Sarah Burton made lace an “in” thing again.

Lace has gone above and beyond just tops and dresses this season. Shorts and pants now can be lacy. And yes, all these items are acceptable for wearing outside, they aren’t just for pajamas or lingerie anymore. Since there are so many different types of lacy things this year, I’ve split the lace amongst a few posts.

Today you’ll find lace making up shorts or simply embellishing the fabric. Some look like beach cover-ups, some like lingerie, and others hippie-chic. Because of the variety of styles, I’m sharing my lacy finds. Most importantly, I’ve found a variety of brands so the price points are all over the place. You’ll be able to find a pair that suits your bank account.

I’m excited for summer weather to try out these cute and feminine shorts. I can’t wait to style them and dress them up to wear around!
