Miss Wu is at Nordstrom

Jason Wu has launched a contemporary line called Miss Wu, exclusively for Nordstrom. The line is inspired by the 60s with a color palette of black, white, yellow, and blue. I did a post on this line back in July (here), when they first announced it and now it is finally in stores and online!

There are 40 items available, ranging from $195-$865. (ouch, right?) He has incorporated everything a woman could need: blouses, skirts, sweaters, pants, and coats. Here’s a quick preview of my favorite items:

Jason Wu Is At It Again!

Jason Wu is keeping busy these days! First, he did his own thing, then joined forces with Target, then announced he’s going to join forces with Neiman Marcus and 23 other designers to put out another collection at Target this December. And now….. he’s teaming up with Nordstrom.

It has been announced today that he is doing a Contemporary line specifically for Nordstrom called Miss Wu.

The details:

– line will be launched for Spring 2013

– it will consist of 40 pieces

– will be in 49 Nordstrom stores and online

– each item will be priced between $195 and $795

– inspiration stems from Jane Birkin and Marianne Faithfull with a 1960s vibe

– bows, a-line skirts, florals, and mini-skirts will be in abundance throughout the collection

While we have months to wait for this to hit shelves, it’s something to look forward to!

Target + Neiman Marcus

As you probably have guessed, I love collaborations among designers and normal everyday companies. It’s a great way to get designer styles for a much more affordable price.

Which makes me pleased to announce Target’s newest collaboration. It will be with the one and only Neiman Marcus. Yes, I know that’s a department store, not a designer. Because it’s Neiman Marcus, it will feature 24 designers in the Limited Edition Holiday line. I’m curious to see how they will do this, if each designer gets one piece to design or they all work together. I don’t know for sure, they just announced today. But, I do know, after being happy with the Jason Wu collection I will be going after this for sure.

Want to know who the lucky 24 designers are? They’re not going to make you wait for that. They’ve given the list. Straight from the press release:

“The Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection includes an eclectic and diverse mix of more than 50 limited-edition gifting products. The collection ranges from $7.99 to $499.99, with most items less than $60. Designers who created pieces for the collection include:”

Alice + Olivia Jason Wu Proenza Schouler
Altuzarra Judith Leiber Rag & Bone
Band of Outsiders Lela Rose Robert Rodriguez
Brian Atwood Marchesa Rodarte
Carolina Herrera Marc Jacobs Skaist-Taylor
Derek Lam Oscar de la Renta Thom Browne
Diane von Furstenberg Philip Crangi Tory Burch
Eddie Borgo Prabal Gurung Tracy Reese

I’ve got to be honest, I’m a little worried about seeing some items be up to $499.99. While it does say “most” items are under $60, I just hope their “most” and my “most” are the same thing. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a collaboration in my opinion if a lot are around $500, but I’m still excited and we’ll just have to wait and see the goods!

An even greater update to this collaboration – it will be available through both Target and Neiman Marcus – in stores and online! That’s right! If we all crash the server on Target (like it’s happened the last two times – Jason Wu and Missoni collections) no worries, head over to Neiman Marcus’ website to try and get your hands on it there. And, if you’re lucky enough to have a Neiman Marcus around you, scour their racks for that piece you love.

With this collaboration, Target and Neiman Marcus will also be donating $1 Million to The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) as all designers are members of the CFDA and it’s the 50th celebration of the Council this year.

I hope you’re as excited for this as I am. Never have I wanted it to be the holiday season so bad as I do now. I just have to wait 5 months….

Make sure and set your alarms early for the morning of December 1st. These items will go fast.

The Versatile Shirtdress

They’re versatile, they’re comfortable; they’re the shirtdress. Dress them up or wear them as is – they are a dress that looks both casual and dressy at the same time. It’s Spring which means it’s time to show off those legs and these are great ways to welcome the new fashions.

Here’s some lovely examples of shirtdresses you can get your hands on!

Joie – ‘Bishop’ Chambray Shirtdress – $218

I love brands Joie and Soft Joie. I was introduced to the brand in Saks Fifth Avenue in Las Vegas and ever since buying the Soft Joie top, I’ve been in love. Knowing how comfortable the top I have is, I can only imagine how soft and comfortable this shirtdress could be. Plus, a big plus, it’s chambray which is also very in right now. Perfect combination, right?

Saddle Up!

Saddle bags. They’re super cute and actually functional. Yes, you won’t be able to carry your whole life in them like what you do with your go-to oversized purse, but you can fit your wallet, keys, phone, lipgloss and a few other things I it. It makes it easier at the checkout line too when you can actually find your wallet. Trust me, we’ve all been there where we’re digging around trying to find out wallet which is also huge while the checker and line behind you is all thinking the same thing:”do you seriously need that big of a purse!”

Anyway, saddle bags.. You’ll love them. You’ll find that a variety of designers are making them apart of their lines. From the Jason Wu target collection to Louis Vuitton, they’re in abundance.
