Skater Skirts are EVERYWHERE!

Everywhere I go, online or in-store, I see skater skirts. To be honest: I love it, too! They’re so cute and simple yet fabulous. They’re extremely flattering and can easily be dressed up or down. Pair them with a button down blouse for work or throw on a sweatshirt for the weekend. Heels, booties, or flats, they will work with everything.

Here’s a short collection that I’ve found that are to die for:

Miss Wu is at Nordstrom

Jason Wu has launched a contemporary line called Miss Wu, exclusively for Nordstrom. The line is inspired by the 60s with a color palette of black, white, yellow, and blue. I did a post on this line back in July (here), when they first announced it and now it is finally in stores and online!

There are 40 items available, ranging from $195-$865. (ouch, right?) He has incorporated everything a woman could need: blouses, skirts, sweaters, pants, and coats. Here’s a quick preview of my favorite items:

No More iPhone Photos!

Yup, that’s right. I will not have to take any more pictures with my crappy little iPhone camera. They definitely lack a quality that is needed for showing true colors of outfits and just all around nice looking pictures. So… even though my birthday was a few weeks ago, my amazing boyfriend told me if I could wait a bit, he would get me a camera for my blog and general picture-taking-merriment. This weekend I got to go pick out said camera.

Introducing the new love of my life: Drum roll please..(the last picture taken on my phone.. hopefully)

And to show its amazing quality and a hint of the beautiful colors you will soon be getting from my outfit posts… meet Duke, my 13 year old puppy who agreed to be my model for you all.

(Click on it to actually see the quality)

Which leads me to my next point.. while I love my theme, chances are its going to change here soon because having the max image width of 420 is just getting too difficult to fight with. So, don’t be surprised if you come on here next and the look has changed. I don’t have ADD (that I know of) since I keep changing the look,  my needs just keep changing.

Sheer It Is…

If you haven’t noticed… things are tending to get more and more and more sheer. If you don’t have some pretty under things (slips, chemises, or shorts) this is the season to invest in some. You’re gonna need them. If you’re questioning showing some skin, don’t fret, remember Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City? She wore PLENTY of sheer items and (most of the time) pulled them off without making you wonder why she wanted to show the whole world her bra. So.. the most sheer pieces you will run into are tops, dresses, and skirts. To deal with these pieces gracefully and fashionably, here’s your guide:

For skirts. Simple. Most skirts will have a lining to them. Unfortunately even though they have these, I’ve found issues with even these being too sheer. Here you can do one of two things: slip or cute spandex-y shorts, either of these can be purchased for cheap. For slips, finding them can be a pain as most people find them “out-of-date” and forgo them all together. However, I recently found a perfect slip at Target that was full body and fits perfectly under a short bodycon dress. For shorts, there are some cute ones at Free People, though a bit more expensive at $38. You can find some short frilly shorts in lingerie (think lacy sleep shorts)  if at a complete loss. I stuck with essentially one style here, because it’s the most obvious that there’s a sheer portion to it.

ASOS – Maxi Skirts With Pleats – $78

Aqua – Midi Pleated Skirt – $61
