Ciate Nail Day: Round-up

It’s about time, but I’m finally finishing up the Ciate Mini Mani Month box. I decided to go ahead and wear five colors at once and then just take a picture of the last 7 bottles. I got ridiculously behind. With work, switching jobs, interviews, and life, painting my nails didn’t happen much.

Without further ado I give you the colors:

colornails1

In order of left to right on nails: Headliner, Fade to Greige, Mojito, Big Yellow Taxi, Speed Dial

The yellow(big yellow taxi), green (mojito), and orange (speed dial) were by far the most difficult to apply thus far. They were very watery when I applied them. It took many, many coats to get a solid color formed.

And here are the remaining bottles: bottles2Bottles from left to right: Glass Slipper, Power Dressing, Candyshop (caviar pearls), Magic Carpet, Sundance (caviar pearls), Enchanted Rose, Cookies and Cream

I love the color names of this whole box. Ciate is definitely going to have my vote for favorite nail polish for a long time.

Which is your favorite: Ciate, Essie, OPI, another??

Add a Wing to that Bag

I haven’t really done one of these posts in a while, and I don’t know why. Guess I haven’t had the time to read any magazines.. But to get back on the ball, here’s a current/upcoming trend for our handbags.

It may not be news to you, but winged bags are in for Spring. It’s not a huge change to bags, just a subtle difference. You’re going to start to see more fabric up by the zipper to create a “winged” look on the more structured handbags.

If you’re wanting to add this trend to your collection, I’ve scoured the web to find quite a few bags of the trend. There’s the high-end Prada and the lower Danielle Nicole.

So, here’s the list:

Lust Item: Chloe’s Marcie Small Calfskin Satchel

I saw this last time I was in Nordstrom and have been in love with it since. Every time I see it I just want to put it on a credit card and have it in my possession! It’s so gorgeous, all leather, and a decent size. The dimensions are:¬†14″W x 10 1/2″H x 4 1/2″D. Big enough for everything you need plus a book/tablet!! I love this color too. It’s called Nut, kinda funny :) The downside… it’s $1795. Maybe I’ll start saving up for it… It seems like a classy bag that could last you for a long time.

Seeing Double: Longchamp and Nordstrom

I love coming across items that I do a double-take and wonder “haven’t I seen something like that before?!” The last time I did that was a pair of Alexander McQueen look-a-likes at Charlotte Russe.

I’ve found another look-a-like. This time it’s not as close as the McQueen-Russe connection, but it’s still pretty close! It’s a look-a-like of the infamous Longchamp Le Pliage tote made famous by its usefulness on a college campus. It’s lightweight and perfect for carrying a notebook, pens, and a book or two. Plus, it zips completely and because of its nylon exterior won’t be damaged by getting caught in the rain.

Anyway, compare the original Longchamp Le Pliage tote to the one I found in the sale section at Nordstrom…..

Longchamp – Le Pliage Large Shoulder Tote – $128

The Nordstrom option…

Nordstrom – Getaway Tote – $33.98

This one is almost the same exact dimensions, on sale for $33 (normally $58). The only real difference is this is canvas rather than nylon. Still if you want a cute similarity, for $100 less, head over to Nordstroms website and pick up one of these look-a-likes.

Miss Wu is at Nordstrom

Jason Wu has launched a contemporary line called Miss Wu, exclusively for Nordstrom. The line is inspired by the 60s with a color palette of black, white, yellow, and blue. I did a post on this line back in July (here), when they first announced it and now it is finally in stores and online!

There are 40 items available, ranging from $195-$865. (ouch, right?) He has incorporated everything a woman could need: blouses, skirts, sweaters, pants, and coats. Here’s a quick preview of my favorite items:
